Each year, the Spring Sidewalk Art Festival and the Fall Seafood Festival attract thousands of visitors to the area, yet Cedar Key retains the charm of Old Florida. The Fourth of July brings a large number of coastal residents to the community for the best small town fireworks show you will ever see. Cedar Key's volunteer firemen stage it with great flair. Starting in 2004, the Cedar Key Aquaculture Association will start the festivities at 11 a.m. with the first ever CLAM FESTIVAL. Activities include live music from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., clam shucking contest, clam cookoff and PLENTY of good seafood.

Other amenities include a swimming pool, hot tub, fishing dock, BBQ grills, picnic tables and covered parking.

The private beach offers shelling, great fishing and bird watching.

 

Cedar Key is a haven for artists and writers, bird watchers and kayakers, fishermen and those just looking to "get away from it all".

The area abounds with a remarkable variety of migratory and shore birds, and its surrounding waters are home to several species of grouper, spotted trout, redfish, sheepshead, cobia, Spanish and king mackerel, hardhead catfish, black drum, flounder, silver perch, Atlantic croaker, mullet and several types of sharks. Bring your own equipment or several local businesses offer rentals.
